Minted | Gender Unwrapped Baby Shower Invitation

Hello! Although I’ve had a dry spell in posting, I’m back with some exciting news. Minted has just launched brand new baby shower invitation designs, just in time for Spring. I participated in their ‘On the Way Baby Shower Invitation’ challenge and received an Editor’s Pick for my design, ‘Gender Unwrapped.’

If you have attended a baby shower in the last few years, you’ll know what a gender reveal party is. For those of you that don’t… it’s a fun way to share with your friends and family if you are having a boy or girl! If you are looking for some ideas, just google ‘gender reveal party.’ Some of the most popular ideas include revealing pink or blue with the inside of a cake, opening a box of balloons or just opening a sealed document from the doctor. These gender reveal parties are a fun way to get couples to attend the shower and make it an exciting event.

As Minted called for new baby shower invitation designs, I began working on a clean, modern gender reveal design. ‘Gender Unwrapped’ combines the blue vs. pink theme with cascading ribbons and simple typography.

This design is currently for sale at Minted and is offered in three colorways: Coral, Orchid and Berry. Matching thank you cards, skinny wrap labels and envelope liners are also available.

Unique shapes are also available, from rounded corners to brackets and scallops. Check out the page for more info.

Hunter + Tate: One Nautical Celebration

One may think you can only have a nautical wedding on the coast. Blue skies, clear waters and a beach backdrop made this outdoor wedding in Iowa absolutely beautiful.

Hunter and Tate’s wedding was held in Clear Lake. Hunter spent many summers there with friends and family, so this location had special meaning.

While meeting with Hunter, she described her wedding’s style as modern, fun and a bit relaxed. Bridesmaids would be wearing bold blue dresses and the spirit of the location needed to shine through the stationery.

The custom wedding invitations, programs and thank you postcards featured an illustrated anchor and nautical-striped backers. Invitation suites were printed on bright white cover stock with blues and greys. The invitations were mailed in a bright blue matching envelope.

I created a custom heart monogram and used modern typography. Both the invitation card and information card included the nautical stripes on the back with the monogram in the corner.

This outdoor wedding in August could have been a hot one, so program fans were in order. I created a two-sided custom program fan with a wavy wooden handle. The programs included the ceremony information, bridal party and a thank you from the bride and groom.

Thank you postcards were mailed out and included a gorgeous photo of Hunter and Tate on the dock.

Photography credit from the wedding goes to Katie Lindgren. Below are just a few shots that truly tell the story on this wedding day. Congrats Mr. and Mrs. Button!

Miranda + Logan: Rustic Kraft Wedding Invitations

This is a rustic-inspired wedding with truly heart-felt touches. I had the honor of meeting Miranda and her sweet mom a few months ago. Miranda and Logan were looking for custom stationery for their wedding, to coordinate with all of the other custom-made elements.

Decor and bridesmaid dresses are created by Miranda’s mother and sister. Talk about a celebration that includes the entire family! The bridesmaids will be wearing deep purples and wine colors with boots. The bride will be wearing a gorgeous white gown with a blinged-out belt.

The small wedding with close friends and family called for custom invitations and wedding programs.

Miranda and Logan’s custom designs feature a stamped heart with the couple’s initials. Printed on thick, natural Kraft cover stock with wine-colored ink and backer cards, these invitations give a glimpse into the special day ahead. The design includes modern and a bit of retro typography.

An information card is included and gives the guests the email RSVP and reception site address. The invitation suites were wrapped with dark brown hemp twine and mailed in a matching Kraft envelope.

The wedding programs were also printed with the natural Kraft cover stock and feature and wine-colored elements.

Thank you Miranda and Logan for allowing me to be a part of your celebration!

Retro Holiday Cheer by AJCreative | Minted Holiday Inspiration Board

Time is ticking! The holidays will be here soon!

As many of you already know, I’m an independent designer for Minted. This holiday season, Minted chose one of my custom holiday card designs to be included in the 2013 collection. The ‘Retro Charlie Christmas’ holiday card is offered in four colorways and customizable for your own message and family or company name.

I may be the one to blame for why we have snow falling today, but I think it’s time to get in the holiday spirit! If you follow my AJCreative etsy shop or AJCreative facebook page, you’ll see that I tend to be inspired by retro/vintage decor and design. My holiday designs are proof of that! The inspiration board I created brings by design full-circle. Please take a look and click the ‘heart’ icon if you love it!

2013 AJC Holiday Preview + Save the Date Winner | AJCreative

If you haven’t started thinking about the holidays yet, there’s no time to waste! Sadly, the days are becoming shorter and the weather is becoming much colder. In fact, my husband just told me that he wants to have a snow day at school so he can sit in front of the fire, drink hot chocolate and do a jigsaw puzzle. Oh my!

The last few weeks I’ve been working to put together the 2013 AJC Holiday Collection. I plan to offer both printable designs (for you DIY people) and also beautifully printed cards. You will be able to order directly from the AJCreative etsy store. I may even be offering a discount or giveaway very soon, so make sure you stay tuned to the AJCreative facebook page.

This year’s holiday cards will cater to a variety of styles, but I’m most excited about the retro-inspired, non-traditional color schemes and gold foil designs. You heard that right… gold foil! Or, silver foil if you prefer. But, if you follow the trends this year, gold foil, gold metallic, gold glitter, all gold is hot! I can’t wait to reveal the foil-pressed cards!

Every show, HyVee invites vendors to take part in their giveaways. I offered free photo save the date cards. Well, the winner has been chosen… Kelly Kauzlarich. You’ve won! Can’t wait to help announce your wedding and invite guests to save your date for next year’s wedding.

From the hustle and bustle of the crowd, to the fashion show, I didn’t get a chance to snap many photos, and the ones that I did get were pretty terrible quality with the lighting and my iPhone. Oh well. I look forward to the next season of weddings and hope to talk to you all again soon!

Cheers.

Get to Know Amy | AJCreative

Having a presence online is one thing, but I feel like it can be difficult for people to know the face behind the business. Enter this post. I founded AJCreative in 2007 after designing my own wedding invitations and finding a need for local, custom fine wedding invitations. I spend many hours behind my computer, but I love the opportunity to be out meeting brides and networking with other business owners.

With another bridal show just days away, I look forward to meeting hundreds of brides face-to-face. I think it’s time for you to get to know a bit more about me. Read on to find out more!

1 – I am a Group Fitness Instructor. I have a passion for encouraging other to reach their fitness and nutrition goals. I currently teach bootcamp classes early in the morning. I’m also certified in Spinning and Personal Training.

2 – My husband and I ‘met’ through facebook. When facebook was first created, strictly for college students, we both attended Iowa State University. We met in person for the first time at the Lied Rec Athletic Center. Married for six years and counting. Love you babe!

3 – The only time I have been in New York is to run in my first half marathon, through Central Park. It was a whirlwind weekend, but I loved the experience. All went well, except for being terribly ill the day before the race.

4 – In August, I launched my second business, Emberglow. After my father battled skin cancer on his face, I vowed to be smarter and healthier with my skin and avoid tanning beds. Sunless, airbrush tanning is the safe way to get a gorgeous glow. If you’re in the Des Moines area, book an appointment and come see me!

5 – My fifteen minutes of fame: West End Salvage on HGTV. My husband and I were on episode 1, titled ‘Blah Basement Gets a Beauty Boost.’ Our basement makeover was from West End Architectural Salvage, local contractors and the amazing design crew from HGTV. Loved every minute of it and haven’t changed a thing in our room!

6 – I have a hard time resisting thrift stores, craigslist and ebay. It must be a trait I got from going to garage sales with my dad. You never know what treasures you can find!

7 – My ideal vacation is rest and relaxation on a beach. If I have time away, I don’t want to do sightseeing and fill each day with activities.

8 – We don’t have cable television at home. The only time we pay for a cable upgrade is during football season, per the request of my husband.

9 – When I do watch tv, I can’t get enough of Jerseylicious, PsychResale Royalty, Shark Tank, Tabatha’s Salon Takeover and Hawaii Life. It’s a whole lot easier to do cardio at the gym when there’s a ‘good’ show on.

10 – I am truly blessed beyond all measure by Christ, my Savior. He’s the only reason I am where I am. I owe all to Him.
